Tayler's Status :(

Sorry, don't have much to post, except for that I am stressed out and emotionally drained!!

On Friday, 21st, I took the kids to the dr. because they had been coughing a lot. I was hoping to catch something starting before it got bad. The dr. thought they just had a cold and gave us a prescription for cough medicine. The following day, Tayler woke up with a fever and diarhhea. (sorry if that is t.m.i) I thought she just had a stomach bug. On Monday afternoon (Jan. 24th) I received an e-mail from the preschool stating that a child in Tayler's class had been diagnosed with the flu the Friday before... the Friday I had taken them to the dr. However, at the time, I did not know about this!! So, I looked online and read that the flu can sometimes resemble the common cold. So, the next morning, Tuesday, Jan. 25th, I took Tayler to the dr. They tested her for the flu and strep throat... she came back positive for the flu. I read online that the flu lasts 7-10 days. Yesterday was day 11 of her having a fever. Also, her cough has gotten much worse.

Today I had a seminar at school. Kyle has not been feeling well so he stayed home with Tayler today. I made an apt. for 11:30. We were released for lunch at 11:30 right down the street from the doctor's office so I met up with Kyle and Tayler there. The dr. said her fever from the flu should be gone by now. So, we were sent to the hospital to have a cheat x-ray done on her. I took her to the hospital while Kyle took himself to the dr. In addition, Tayler's ear infection has gotten worse, plus she has an ear infection in her other ear. Apparantly the antibiotic was simply not strong enough for the infection.

Kyle has a sinus infection, ear infection and pink eye. (Both kids have had bouts with pink the past 2 weeks as well.) Tayler's results came back about 1 1/2 hours ago and she has a minor case of pnemonia. She received antibiotics via a shot today and will start oral antibiotics tomorrow.

So, I went to walgreens to pick up the antibiotics. After waiting in line for nearly 30 minutes, the pharmacist said she has no record of a prescription for her. So, I left very aggitated. (I have already had a very emotional day plus very stressed out the past week from her being sick and me missing so much school.) After being on hold for 10 minutes with the answering service at the doctor's office, I finally got in touch with a nurse who confirmed the prescription was sent. She said she would call and give it to them again verbally. So, looks like I will be calling first and taking another trip to the store to get her medicine.

Please keep our family in your thoughts and prayers while we all adjust to this new lifestyle and new germs. I am also battling a cold but I am trying to be a trooper. I don't touch my face, sanitize and wash my hands like crazy, etc. Why is it the mom is always the one taking care of everyone? I guess mommies just know best. (P.S. Tayler was very excited to see me when I came into the dr.'s office. Dr. visits just aren't the same with daddy... Kyle had to leave the room during her shot, during which I had to hold her down. Daddies are such softies! ;) )
